Casting a Light into the Shadows

Welcome to Faces In Between

Faces in Between is a homeless outreach non-profit organization based out of NYC. We aim to provide a platform for individuals experiencing homelessness to become their own advocates and create a face for their world. We hope to reduce the stigmas associated with homelessness and foster connections between neighbors with and without stable living situations. In the long term, we are dedicated to developing programs in an effort to increase the well-being and health of those currently experiencing homelessness and ultimately aim to break the cycle of homelessness with a focus on youth and families.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.

I am a Master of Public Health candidate at Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health and have worked in the public health field for a number of years prior to enrolling in school. I feel incredibly honored and humbled to have taken on the role as president for Faces in Between in 2018 and to have Kendra as my mentor. I have always had a deep passion for working within the community, developing programs and exploring various ways to address issues surrounding homelessness and poverty in major cities. My goal is to bring humanity back into the picture by increasing community connectedness and ensuring that our community members no longer feel invisible. I am extremely excited to be part of Faces in Between and to see the impact that it will have.

I am currently a full-time coach at Flywheel Sports and when I’m not riding a bike in place, I’m pounding the pavement in the NYC acting scene, performing in Theatre, Film/TV, Commercials, Print and Voiceover.
I have always had a burning desire to help people in some way, shape, or form, and Faces in Between came into my life at the perfect moment. Developing relationships with our homeless neighbors through the distribution of winter essentials through the “Spread the Love by Spreading the Warmth” Winter Campaign, truly opened my eyes to the issue at hand and at that point I knew that I had found something special. I am so excited to be on board as Brand Champion and can’t wait to continue my relationship with FIB and the homeless community.

I was trained as a public and emergency psychiatrist, and have years of experience working in a busy psychiatric emergency room in New York City. I founded Faces in Between due to being extremely passionate about addressing larger societal issues, including homelessness, poverty, racism, and classism, which I witnessed on a daily basis in the emergency room. This project is extremely “near and dear” to me, and I hope that by bringing a “face” and “voice” to homelessness and other societal issues, through the lenses of individuals, we can develop innovative and creative solutions to social injustices.

I am Owner and Designer/Developer at SunRiver Designs in Luray, Virginia by day and an adamant dreamer by night. I'm thankful to be a part of this amazing project. I've always wanted to help this planet in any way I can and I know that by simply being a part of Faces In Between, I will have ample opportunities to do so. When I'm not developing for work or my wife or both, I spend my time excited about being a new parent, a new home owner, and a new found love of being a country boy.

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.
