Spread the Love by Spreading the Warmth

Hello FIB Friends!

Posting today from NYC while experiencing dangerously cold temperatures in the single digits. Since the first week in January we’ve been running the “Spread the love by spreading the warmth” campaign in partnership with One Warm Blanket and Flywheel Sports. We placed 10 boxes into all 10 NYC flywheel locations in order to collect blankets and sleeping bags.

But what about the people who are Fly on Demand riders or who don’t frequent a flywheel studio? Not to worry. We ran our campaign via social media as well and accepted donations via Venmo for the team to purchase sleeping bags. Over 100 sleeping bags and 100 blankets have been donated so far! WERE CALLING THIS A MAJOR SUCCESS!

But we’re not stopping there. We’ve been continuously distributing the sleeping bags and blankets to our neighbors on a daily basis along with other winter essentials such as hats, scarves, gloves, chapstick, emergency thermal blankets and socks.

But wait theres more…!! On February 10th, 2019 we are hosting a charity ride at Flywheel Sports NoMad in which we will have a special guest speaker, educational information about homelessness and opportunities for everyone to partake in the distribution. The event will be followed by a celebration hosted by our friends at Brother Jimmy’s!

Faces in Between is so inspired by the hard work our partners at Flywheel and One Warm Blanket are putting into this. The impact is obvious. But more importantly, by being out on the streets and talking to the community members who are directly impacted by these items, its become evident that what the team is doing is more than a small effort, its changing lives and may very well just be the barrier between life and death for some.

We are excited for the rest of the campaign and for this awesome partnership to continue to grow!

xx

About the Author:

President of Faces in Between. I am a person who believes in the power of love, community and action. Much of our organization’s success depends on these three things…we rely on the love and passion of our volunteers as well as our partners to come together as a strong force to address the issues, understand the needs and improve the lives of those around us. A little bit goes a long way and all it takes is collective compassion that is put into action to make a change.
